Natural stone (marble, granite, travertine, and limestone) medallions are cut from 3/8″ thick tiles resulting in a completed medallion that is also 3/8″ thick. These thicknesses are standard thickness for most natural stone field tiles making our medallions easy to match with surrounding floor.
Installing our medallions is as easy as installing floor tiles. The same floor preparations required for installing a marble, granite, porcelain,or ceramic floor are required for installing our medallions. Our medallions ship to you in easy to handle sections. Simply apply the floor adhesive, and then set the sections in place to complete the medallion. Installation Instructions:

  1. Remove the lids of the crates that the medallion is shipped in.
  2. Remove the medallions from the packaging by lifting board from underneath the 2×4 frame.
  3. The medallion is supplied glued to a mesh backing. Trim the mesh backing with an x-acto knife.
  4. A mortar bed should be applied to set the 3/8” thick medallion. The medallion can be set in either a mortar bed or “thin set”.
  5. Slide the medallion sections off the border and into the mortar. Handle with care as marble is delicate prior to installation. Standard medallions have 1/8” gaps between each of the water jet cut pieces. Position the sections of the medallion 1/8” apart.
  6. Allow the mortar to dry overnight.
  7. Grout with a non-sanded grout.
  8. Seal the medallion with a natural stone sealer.
We ship our medallions in sections both for ease of shipping and for ease of handling during installation. Once installed, it is impossible to tell it was shipped in sections.
The natural stone sections that compose your medallion are held together on the backside with adhesive and flexible fiberglass mesh. The purpose of this adhesive is only to hold the shapes together prior to installation. The floor adhesive used during installation provides the structural bond to the floor.
No. There is no grout in the space between the natural stone shapes in our medallions. Once installed, you can apply any color of grout you wish. Using the same colored grout that is used in the surrounding floor tiles allows the medallion to integrate smoothly into the rest of the floor. Note that all medallion images on this website show our medallions with a gray colored grout.
All of our medallions have a grout spacing of approximately 1/8″ between shapes.
No. We do not seal our medallions but we recommend that you seal your medallion after installation.
We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express, Paypal. You can also pay by check.
Maintenance required for our medallions is the same as maintenance required for the material your medallion is created from. This includes routine wiping down with a damp cloth to keep clean off any debris that may scratch the surface. As with most marble and granite floors, they can be re-polished if the surface becomes dulled or scratched.
Medallions ship via freight company or sometimes Fedex for smaller medallions. Costs vary depending on size. For costs of freight shipments, shipping outside the continental US or for express delivery, please contact Medallion Depot.

If a piece is broken during installation, let us know which piece is damaged and we will ship you a replacement piece as soon as possible.
If you are unsatisfied with your medallion for any reason, you can return it. With the 1000’s of medallions we have created over the years, the return rate is almost non existent. But if you do want to return the item you can do that, provided the following conditions are met:

  1. The medallion must be returned within 7 days.
  2. The medallion must be packaged properly.
  3. The customer pays all shipping fees.
  4. Custom medallions cannot be returned without prior approval.
The grout spacing of the tiles does slightly affect the radius of the cuts applied.
